Often we think that our crimes and sins can be hidden from God. This thinking is to create a false sense of security that leads to justification of our sins and mistakes. But nothing on earth is hidden from God. He knows and recognizes His people.
This psalm was written by the psalmist based on the story of when Doeg, an Edomite, told Saul about David's presence in Ahimelech's house. By denouncing David to Saul, Doeg thought he would be safe from the punishment Saul would inflict on those who would not cooperate and defend him. By killing the priests at Nob, Saul thought he was safe from those who were perceived as opposing him. Both Doeg and Saul preferred to glory in evil, devise wickedness and deception, and love evil more than good.
These people who delight in evil are specifically associated with speaking lies or attempting to deceive others. Condemnation is levied against those who hurt others even with their words. Ironically, instead of repenting, they glory in evil. There is no remorse in these people. It must be God Himself who knocks down all such arrogance. As for the righteous, their fate is very different from that of the wicked. Evil is not on their minds because they choose to be on God's side and live in His steadfast love.
Friends of the Bible, today's call from the psalmist is a reminder for all of us not to get comfortable in our wrongdoings and wickedness. God knows what we do. Nothing is hidden from Him. So let us start living a life that pleases Him by choosing the right things in life. Refuse to compromise with sin and not tolerate the evil that happens.
