After lasting for 3 days, the Bible Week activities in Tobelo were closed with a worship service led by Rev. Novy Flory, S.Th. At the 17:30 WIT service, Rev. Novy delivered a sermon from the text of Acts 8: 26-40, which contains the story of a court official from Ethiopia. The message of the story is related to the theme of Tobelo Bible Week, namely "God Does Great Things". Like Philip who obediently followed his call to go on a great journey of service to explain the meaning of Isaiah, the series of Bible Week activities in Tobelo are part of the Indonesian Bible Institute's efforts to expand its ministry. In collaboration with local churches and Uniera, the Bible Week event, the first of its kind in North Halmahera, was lively and joyful. The Secretary of North Maluku, representing the Regent of Halmahera, gave a speech about the changes in every era. This is in line with the renewal of the TB2 Bible, as part of an effort to introduce the word of God to the latest generation. Life that continues to change makes every believer also need to make changes for the better that are reflected through daily life.
LAI, represented by Dr. Sigit Triyono, closed the Bible Week event and thanked all those who had supported the Tobelo Bible Week event which took place from 31 July to. August 2, 2024. Through the exhibition of biblical objects, seminars, and various competitions, let it be a spark of enthusiasm for people across generations to continue to express the Word of God in life.
The chairman of the committee expressed his gratitude for the trust given by LAI to the church and the Uniera academic community in every process of implementing activities. A total of more than 1500 people attended the exhibition of Bible objects, 200 people participated in various competitions, and about 800 people attended 3 different seminars. Indeed, Bible Week made a deep impression on the people of Tobelo. May this collaboration be a good start and inspire other regions to be able to carry out similar activities, so that the Bible is increasingly interpreted in everyday life.
