Call or Choice? Childfree in the Perspective of Christian Faith
Breeding or having offspring is natural or normal or even expected in human history. We exist because people before us were willing to procreate. The situation would have been different had they not been willing to have offspring in the past, certainly human existence would not be what it is today. The preservation of creation can also be seen more broadly in relation to other creations that still exist today. Various types of animals and plants that still exist today are the result of reproduction, either naturally or with the help of scientists. Therefore, it is not surprising that when some people suddenly talk or even campaign about Childfree or stop breeding, even with various supporting arguments, will be considered "strange" and "against nature".
Then, what if this conversation about Childfree is confronted with the call to be fruitful and multiply that is conveyed by God through texts in the Bible?
Is Childfree a resistance to the call to procreate or a consequence of the shifting contexts of biblical times and today?"
