Sunday School Teachers Workshop and Bible Month of Prayer 2025 Salatiga
“Being a teacher is not only about teaching, but also inspiring.” This sentence encouraged 78 Sunday School Teachers (GSM) from various churches who attended the Sunday School Teacher Workshop themed "Wise Teacher, Inspiring Children" held in Salatiga on Saturday, August 30, 2025. The children's ministers longed to equip themselves to be more effective in guiding and accompanying Sunday School children.
The Workshop began with praise and warm introductions between conveying that Sunday School teachers are called not only to deliver the word, but also to be wise and inspiring individuals.
Dr. Jozef invited the workshop participants to start the session by doing an roleplay. Some played the role of teachers and others played the role of rowdy Sunday School children. Laughter accompanied the participants throughout the roleplay which made the atmosphere more fluid and not boring. Roleplay made participants realize that guiding Sunday School children is not always easy.
In addition to explaining various things about preparing for teaching and teaching methods, Rev. Josef invited participants to learn to understand their children through a form-filling activity. The form contains various priorities for Sunday School children's activities, encouragement to pray and read the Bible, about children's knowledge of the contents of the Scriptures and various other things.
In addition to the material session for Sunday School teachers, this activity was also filled with the presentation of the Bible Prayer Month (BDA) 2025. The BDA program is a momentum for churches and Christians to give thanks for the work of Bible translation and at the same time unite their hearts to support Bible translation activities into various regional languages, especially the Ot Danum language, in Kalimantan. Of the 36 churches present, 21 of them committed to support this program by filling the BDA piggy bank during the month of September.
The GSM workshop at GKI Salatiga became a space for constructive encounters, not only in knowledge but also spiritual experience. Through this activity, Sunday School Teachers were equipped to be wise educators and role models for their children. LAI also invites churches including Sunday Schools to celebrate the 2025 Bible Prayer Month through worship, prayer and support so that God's word is present in various languages that inspire many people to new life in Christ.
