21–27 September 2025
The longing for the Word of God is great among Christians in Timor Leste. However, many families live in limitations, especially in rural areas that depend on agriculture and fishing. In the midst of these conditions, there are many congregations that do not have a Bible, or only have one that is worn and damaged.
Timor Leste shares a border with East Nusa Tenggara and shares many cultural and linguistic similarities. Although the official language is Tetun, most people still understand Bahasa Indonesia especially through Bible reading, Facebook, or TV soap operas. The majority of the population is Catholic and Protestant, with many pastors graduating from theological schools from Indonesia.
During the field survey, the LAI Team met with the Gospel Teacher from Bukit Zaitun Balibar IPTL Church in the mountainous area. He shared that most of the congregation, especially the children, do not have Bibles and desperately need them to know Jesus. A similar situation was also found in Anugrah IPTL Church, where the existing Bibles were damaged and unfit for use, while many other congregations did not have any Bibles at all.
Praise God, on September 21 & 27, 2025, the LAI Team will carry out the One in Love Journey to Timor Leste to distribute 5,193 copies of the Bible and its parts. Through this ministry, thousands of fellow believers will receive valuable opportunities to understand God's truth, deepen their faith, and find comfort in their daily lives.
We invite you, Friends of the Bible, to take part in this noble work. Every support you give will be a light for those who long to have the Word of God. Together, we can answer the longing of the people in Timor Leste so that more hearts are touched and changed by the love of Christ.
