The Indonesian Bishops' Conference (KWI) is a federation of bishops throughout Indonesia that aims to foster unity and cooperation in their pastoral duties leading Indonesian Catholics, which was established in November 1955. In 2023, the KWI held its Annual Assembly at the KWI Office Hall which is still in the process of completion and plans to be inaugurated in 2024 to coincide with 100 years since the Bishops first gathered, 15 May 1924. The theme of the 2023 KWI Annual Council is “Walking Together Towards a Peaceful Indonesia.”.

On the fourth day of the KWI Annual Council, Father Frans & Kristi Adi, who is also the Secretary of the KWI Youth Commission, was given the opportunity to introduce the book Identity-Identified to Bishops from across the archipelago.

The book Identity Identified, with the basic text of the TB-2 New Testament, is complemented by a variety of short articles about the lives of young people answering various concerns and questions of young people about life. The book is a collaborative work of the Indonesian Bible Institute and the KWI Youth Commission and has been soft launchingon 30 September 2023. Through this book, young people can shop and surf with Jesus to rise up from their crisis experiences and wounds to gain true life in God.True life in God.

“Hopefully it will not be a grandiose goal, ” explained Father Kristi when giving a presentation about the presence of this book. “ But we did make the target high so that many young people (Catholics) received this book, ” continued Father Kristi.

On the sidelines of the KWI Annual Session, there was also the signing of a Cooperation Agreement between the Commission on Youth of the Indonesian Bishops' Conference (KomKep KWI) and LAI. This marks an important step in improving the relationship between the KWI, in this case the KWI Commission, and LAI. The signing of the MoU was represented by Dr Sigit Triyono, as the General Secretary of LAI and Msgr Pius Riana Prapdi, as the Chairperson of the KWI Youth Commission.(pp)
