Human history is filled with stories of injustice, where the strong oppress the weak, and those in power often use their authority for personal gain. We often see how fear looms over the lives of many, whether due to external threats or the uncertainty of the future. However, in every chapter of history, there is the hand of God that works miraculously to turn things around. Today's reading teaches us that salvation does not come because of human compassion, but because of the courage to fight alongside God.
When Haman, the great enemy of the Jews, was put to death, it did not mean that the threat to God's people immediately disappeared. The decree that had been issued earlier remained in effect, a regulation that authorized the extermination of the Jews on a specific date. King Ahasuerus could not revoke the law he had made, but he issued a new decree that gave the Jews the right to self-defense. In the perspective of faith, we can view this event as God's marvelous design.
Mordecai, who had previously been just an ordinary servant, the palace doorkeeper, was now made the king's confidant. He wore royal garments, symbolizing the power and honor God had given him. The situation turned around, from a threatened person, to a highly respected leader. The Jewish people, who had lived in fear, now had hope and honor.
Friends of the Bible, isn't our life also full of dynamic struggles? They come and go, as if not giving us pause to think for a moment, so that we can respond appropriately. However, as believers, there is really no other choice for us but to continue to struggle, rely on God, and lean on Him. The struggle is possible because of the belief that sows in our hearts, that God is in control of our lives. This heart attitude enables us to adapt when what is present in our lives does not match our expectations. On the other hand, maybe the time needed to resolve the struggle is not as fast as we imagined. But rest assured that God can turn things around in extraordinary ways. He can turn fear into joy and brokenness into freedom. Hold on to His promises and keep walking in faith. For in the end, it is not man who decides our fate, but God who is sovereign over the lives of all His creation.
