Faithfulness

Maybe we have asked ourselves, will every struggle end in justice? Will the good we do pay off, or will it be erased by the noise of the world? The story of Mordecai and Esther in the book of Esther teaches us that behind all events, there is the hand of God working in silence, orchestrating everything for the good of His people.

Mordecai, a Jew who started out as a royal servant, experienced a challenging journey in life. He refused to submit to Haman, not out of pride, but out of faith. His refusal brought threats to his entire nation, but he remained steadfast. In the end, God turned the tables. He was appointed second in command to King Ahasuerus, honored by his people, and interceded for the welfare of many. However, this story is more than just a turn of fate. The book of Esther is proof that God does not always work in spectacular ways. There is no parting of the sea, no great miracle in sight. Instead, God works through the decisions of His people, through the strategy and persistence of Mordecai, through the sleepless nights of a king, through the courage of a queen, and through the obedience of His people. All seemingly ordinary events were woven into a great work of salvation.

Friends of the Bible, we may have imagined that God's work and involvement happens in extraordinary ways. Even when facing struggles, we are often influenced by this mindset. We want a direct answer from God through a clear sign in our struggles. However, what we often find is that God works through a slow and subtle process. He puts us in a certain position, gives us the opportunity to act, and waits for us to step out in faith. We may not see the end of life's journey right now, but God has already designed the perfect ending. When facing challenges, let us remember that true victory is not just success by the world's standards, but faithfulness that is maintained in every season of life. Just as Mordecai did not seek his own gain, but fought for the good of his people, we too are called to live with integrity and complete trust in God.

In the end, like the Jews who rejoiced in the celebration of Purim, we too will discover that God has never left us. In the darkness of the night, He is the light that does not go out. In the storms of life, He is the steadfast anchor. In the long and arduous journey, He is the certainty that gives hope.
