Have we ever contemplated the greatness of God by looking at the universe He created? This vast universe runs in an astonishing law and order. As God's people, we understand that this does not happen by chance but there is divine intervention in it. He created and maintains the entire universe. It is not surprising then to see that the psalmist invites the people to live out God's existence as the King of the universe.
The psalmist begins his verse in chapter 47 by inviting all nations to praise God with singing. Those who worship God will have victory. The nation of Israel became powerful over the nations because of God's presence alone. He is the King of kings over all the universe and the nations of the earth. As Lord and King, God is to be glorified and exalted as the Most High, the mighty God, the Great King and over all the earth.
There is more than enough reason to worship Him. The psalmist invites all nations to worship God. God's rule over all the powers on earth resides on His holy throne. Thus, every human being should come before God with humility.
Friends of the Bible, let us worship God with our whole being. He is the King of the universe. So to God alone we submit ourselves. This submission to the King is manifested in our worship and also in our daily behavior. Sin often arises from the pride of the heart that feels itself to be the center of everything. So by recognizing that only God is in charge and owns everything, we actually learn to always rely on Him in our lives.
