How happy we would be if our heartfelt cry for help was responded to by others. As a result, we can get through the crisis in time. Now imagine if the party that provides the help is God Himself. But if you think about it more deeply, isn't everything in the universe His creation and design, including all the help or assistance we receive from others.
This time we see the psalmist reflecting on God's ongoing help in the lives of His people. In particular, the life and events of King David form the basis of this reflection. The story of David is a familiar one to the people of Israel including his struggle to rule the Kingdom of Israel. In the end, all challenges and struggles can be overcome only because of God's presence. Therefore, it is to God alone that all gratitude should be offered by the faithful at all times.
Like David who experienced all the struggles and challenges of life even to the point of being overwhelmed and feeling "claustrophobic". Haven't we ever felt the same way? Life sometimes becomes so heavy and suffocating and the way of deliverance from that situation is from God alone. That is David's testimony in verses 7-8, no matter what happens God provides deliverance even from among enemies and powers that oppress and choke life. God is the Helper who stretches out His hand and saves His people.
Let us rely on God alone in facing the challenges and struggles that occur. May today's word encourage us all. Whatever personal or family struggles we are facing right now, rest assured that God has not abandoned us. He comes with all earnestness to embrace and embrace us in all our fragility.
