The life lived by every human being is faced with its own challenges and dynamics. We are required to choose and behave in the midst of all the situations that exist. This is not easy. Moreover, as believers we are invited to realize a life that is in accordance and in accordance with His will. In order to achieve this goal, therefore, one needs to equip themselves with wisdom or wisdom which is a tool to realize a life that is in accordance with and according to His will.
The book of Proverbs can be a way to reflect on the wisdom and wisdom of daily living. Our arrangement is unique. Instead of being arranged in a long, chronologically organized sequence, Proverbs chooses to collect the various counsels of wisdom in a straightforward manner that is based on everyday wisdom themes such as craft, obedience, friendship, and so on. In the passage we read today, Proverbs is juxtaposed with Solomon who was known for his wisdom. The purpose of Proverbs is also presented as a way to know wisdom and instruction, to understand meaningful words, and to receive instruction that makes one wise. Interestingly, intelligence is not independent and separate from morality but rather a path to truth, justice, and honesty. Isn't that what we all long for in order to live a life of wisdom and prudence? Proverbs is particularly concerned with the upbringing of the young as the successors of civilization.
It is emphatically said that knowledge and righteousness are also related to spirituality, as it says in verse 7, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction."
Knowledge and wisdom over life are gained from an awareness of God's authority and submission to Him. Unfortunately the modern world we live in often separates knowledge, morality and spirituality. Through Proverbs we see that the wisdom of life is a blend of spirituality (fear of God), knowledge, and morality.
Amidst all the uncertainties of life that we face, examining the various adages in the book of Proverbs provides inspiration to live life fully and wisely. Wisdom in life comes from our submission to God and willingness to participate in His word. Living in this modern age, many people offer something that is seen as the truth so that truth becomes so relative. But in His word we find certainty in the guidance of His wisdom.
