Life often passes by so quickly and leaves us little room to reflect on the life we have lived. Maybe in the flashback we will see wounds, then suffering and struggles, sometimes joy comes to comfort a little but we are invited to fight again. But as believers, we believe that whatever path we are on, there is always God present and guiding us. That should be what we truly live for.
After recounting the various crises and judgements that would take place, Isaiah began to present the end of all the hard things that would befall Judah. The suffering had reached its breaking point. The whole of society was affected, even down to the women who had been abandoned by their husbands. A man was a rarity in the city. The "seven women" mentioned in verse 1 were probably widows whose husbands had died in the war. A man became an object of desire for such widows. The description in verse one must be seen in the context of the time. A woman living without a husband is a catastrophe in itself. They live without protection and become easy victims of all kinds of crimes. “ Your name may be used as our name, ” not necessarily as a wife, it could be adopted or become a slave. This verse wants to illustrate that the daughters of Zion have been greatly degraded but are still given room to live and the hope is to undergo repentance.
Friends of the Bible, let us live in hope of God's love and guidance. Life may often not go the way we expect, but let us not doubt His love and provision. No matter what happens in our lives, He is there to give discipline to those who love Him. God's restoration is for everyone who waits for His hope and humbles themselves completely before God.
