The 2025 Annual Meeting organized by the Indonesian Bible Society (LAI) took place on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at the Bible Center Building, Salemba. This event was attended by 56 partners consisting of the Support Fundraising Working Group (KKPD), the One in Love Coordinator, and Friends of the Bible.
The Word Servant in this event was presented by Rev. Yoel Indrasmoro, who discussed Bible Spirituality based on the Book of Proverbs 8:34-36. In his sermon, Rev. Yoel emphasized the importance of patience and God's wisdom in dealing with life's problems. "If we look at Proverbs 8 earlier, it says to be patient, waiting at the door. Waiting for the door to be opened. Waiting to hear wisdom. Because God's true wisdom from God will help humans to see their own lives from God's perspective," he said.
Rev. Yoel also highlighted the problems in Indonesia which he said occurred because many people did not see the problem from God's perspective. "This is God's will. That is what should be prioritized. When people are enabled to seek God's will, then what happens is wise, just, and honest," he added. He invited participants to reflect on their purpose in attending this meeting. "Why are we here? The answer is simple: let's make people happy too. I think our calling is to make everyone happy," he said.
The motto "The Bible for All" was the main focus of this meeting. Rev. Yoel emphasized that the Bible is not only for a few people, but for all generations. "The Bible is not only for me, but the Bible is for all. Therefore, we are called to make the Bible available to all," he said. He also emphasized the importance of partnerships in realizing this vision. "The sentence in the motto 'The Bible for All' clearly shows that we cannot be alone. If the Bible is for all, then everyone should strive for the Bible for all," he explained.
Henriette T. Lebang, LAI Chairperson, expressed her appreciation to the partners who have supported the LAI program. "LAI enables pastors in remote areas to have Bibles. LAI partners who are part of the KKPD are not only speakers who extend LAI's news, but also extensions of God's heart who wants to touch everyone with His word," she said.
Henriette also highlighted the polycrisis challenge currently facing Indonesia. "Polycrisis is a term that describes a condition when several crises occur simultaneously and are interrelated. We are faced with this challenge while looking at the direction of the church's future development and the direction of young people in the future. This is where the role of God's Word, God's wisdom, to help us know God's will," she explained.
This meeting was also a moment to strengthen the commitment to fundraising as a form of faith fellowship. "In my opinion, fundraising is a faith fellowship. We may not know anyone involved in fundraising. Fundraising is usually and must be preceded by prayer. This is not our project, this is not LAI's project, this is God's project. This is God's work," said Rev. Joel.
With the spirit of collaboration and the belief that nothing is impossible for God, the 2025 Annual Meeting closed the event with new hopes to realize the "Bible for All" in facing the challenges of the times. "Our part is to join hands to invite people to be involved in God's work and make everyone happy," concluded Rev. Yoel.
