Facing Struggles in God

When we face difficulties in life, sometimes we feel tired and down. Often the temptation to isolate ourselves and distance ourselves from others or our fellowship feels so strong. In fact, God's help for all our challenges and struggles can be found in relationships with fellow believers that are so strengthening.

The recipients of the letter to the Hebrews were a community of Christians with a Jewish background. Apparently, they experienced persecution that was strong enough to leave the Christian faith and return to their old beliefs. This is where the writer of the letter to the Hebrews tries to strengthen them to endure beyond the temptations that exist. In this text, it is conveyed that Jesus in His sacrifice has opened the way for people to draw closer to God. In the past, in the Old Testament, only the high priest could enter the most holy place with fear and trembling. However, through the blood of Jesus, we are given access to draw closer with joy and gratitude to the presence of God. Through Jesus' sacrifice, we can come to God with certainty and without doubt.

The work of Christ not only changes an individual but also changes the way one person relates to another. This liberation brings about a strong fellowship and mutual strengthening because it is centered on the redemptive work of Christ. So in the struggle that is currently plaguing believers, an invitation is born to hold on to hope and support each other in the community of faith.

The writer of Hebrews reminds God's people to look back at how they were once able to endure suffering and struggle. They had faced persecution and hardship, but they remained steadfast because they knew that what they had in heaven was far more valuable than what they experienced on this earth. The same God who gave us strength in the past will continue to be with us and give us the ability to endure in faith.

Bible friends, let us reaffirm our steps of struggle in the fellowship and worship that we do. When in struggle, this is the time to draw closer to God through worship and other acts of maintaining faith. God's comfort can often also be found through meetings with fellow believers. May God always be with us to escape the challenges and struggles of life that we are currently facing.
