Life today is a constant showcase of image, pretense, and communication full of hidden agendas. Many people speak sweetly in front, but harbor deceit in their hearts. In this reality, sincerity becomes a rare value. A similar situation has been a concern for the psalmist of old, recorded in Psalm 12. "Help, Lord, for the godly are gone; the faithful are gone from among the sons of men." (verse 2), the verse is a lament for the loss of integrity and honesty in an increasingly corrupt society. Words are no longer used for good, but to manipulate and control.
The psalmist sees that the root of this brokenness lies in a forked heart. When people's hearts are no longer in tune with their words, human relationships become fragile. Lies, hypocrisy, and pride not only hurt others, but are also a form of violation of the promise of loyalty to God. In the midst of this situation, the psalmist did not remain silent in despair. He cried out to God and begged for His help. This cry is not just a personal cry, but also represents the hearts of the righteous who feel oppressed by the domination of the wicked.
God's answer to the cry was comforting, "Now I will arise, says the Lord; I will give to him who desires it" (verse 6). God not only hears, but also acts as the defender of the oppressed. His promises are delivered with pure words, like silver refined seven times, purified to perfection. These words or promises of God contrast with the deceitful words of man. In the midst of a world that normalizes lies, God's promise remains a solid, trustworthy anchor, and it is there that we find the strength to remain faithful and sincere.
Friends of the Bible, may sincerity be a part of our character. When many people choose falsehood for personal gain, living in love and sincerity becomes a strong testimony of faith. Sincerity is not always easy and not always appreciated, but God sees and appreciates every faithful step of His people. So, let us be a bridge of His love, through sincere hearts, constructive words, and lives that reflect God's truth. Sincerity is not a weakness, but a strength that glorifies God in the midst of a world that has lost its dignity.
