The way God works in our lives is a mystery. It is as if He works in the silence and hidden majesty of the night. Yet in the depths of our hearts, we know that He never leaves us and that we can only hope in Him. Even from the darkest of sorrows, God can always be our refuge.
After the heartfelt and honest expression of his pain and despair in Psalm 22:1-19, we now come to the psalmist's hopeful and helpful cry to God. Even though the psalmist sees that in the dust of death the Lord has placed him, he urgently pleads to be delivered from all his sufferings. The Lord is his only strength. May He not stand afar off, but come to help immediately. The plea then ends with a promise to proclaim God's goodness to his brothers and sisters in faith.
In verses 24-25 we see a picture of God hearing the psalmist's cry for help. True to his promise, the psalmist opens his song of praise and thanksgiving by inviting his brothers and sisters to come praise, glorifying God with reverence for Him. He then expresses all praise and thanks to God who has provided him with help. His work of salvation continues to be accomplished. The sufferings and challenges of life may come with great force. But God's saving work never ceases to be realized.
Bible friends, let us put our hope in God alone. We may not yet see signs of restoration in our lives. But keep trusting and anchoring our faith in God alone. We must believe that God's work of salvation is always woven into our lives and will come in many unexpected ways.
