Under the vast expanse of the horizon, man looks up, trying to understand the secrets of the universe. He explored knowledge, built civilizations, and formulated the laws of the world. However, at some point, when a storm came and shook his life, he realized that all he had was mere transience. Like sand blown by the wind, human wisdom and power are nothing more than a puff of breath before the eternal Creator. Job, a man known for his virtue, understood this truth in his sorrow and suffering. In Job 12:13-25, he expresses the incomparable greatness of God with human mortality.
In the hand of God there is unsurpassed wisdom, strength, and understanding. Man may design and build, but if God desires to destroy, no one can rebuild. If He closes a road, no one can open it. If He withholds water, the earth becomes dry, and if He pours it out, floods come (Job 12:13-15). His power is absolute, reminding us that everything happens by His permission. Sages, judges, and world leaders may have power in the eyes of men, but before God, they can lose their minds and honor. Powerful kings can be overthrown, and wise counselors can become fools (Job 12:17-21). No wisdom or power can exceed the will of God.
Furthermore, Job asserts that God not only knows all things, but He also directs the course of the world. He reveals even the secrets hidden in darkness (Job 12:22). Nations can rise and fall according to His will. Once powerful leaders can be lost in confusion like people walking in darkness without light (Job 12:23-25). This serves as a reminder that man is not the true master of his life, but is completely dependent on God.
Friends of the Bible, do we realize that we often feel that we can control everything by relying on intelligence and technology? Of course, this is not entirely wrong, but with his pleasure everything that is considered strong can collapse. Therefore, let us always live our lives humbly, realizing that everything comes from God and will return to Him. It is through the realization of our limitations that we can discover the greatness of God.
